PPA, employees’ union sign 3-year Collective Negotiation Agreement

NOVEMBER 23, 2017, MANILA—The management and the employees’ union of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Tuesday signed a fresh 3-year Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) paving the way for symbiotic relationship and top caliber service from the agency.

The PPA management, represented by General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago and PPA employees’ union Pambansang Tinig at Lakas sa Pantalan (PANTALAN) represented by national president Emiliano M. Esparaguera, Jr., signed the 6th CNA agreement.

Port of Manila leaps to 32nd spot among top 100 Container ports

OCTOBER 26, 2017, MANILA—The Port of Manila leaps 4 notches higher finishing at 32nd spot in the list of the 2016 top 100 container ports worldwide.

 

Manila also jumps one step higher to 22 in the list of Asian ports included in the top 100 container ports.

According to the list released by the Lloyd’s List, Manila was able to post very positive performance in 2016 due to the Philippines’ booming national economy that increased 6.8% from 5.9% a year earlier.

Manila port yard utilization remains healthy, ready for Christmas cargoes

MANILA, October 19, 2017—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) guarantees an efficient, congestion-free Manila ports as Christmas cargoes start to come in.

The state-owned agency said that Manila port utilization at the start of the last quarter of the year remains healthy and provide enough space for cargoes intended for the holiday season.

Ph cargo throughput soars 7.4% in first half despite Mindanao security issues

MANILA, August 24, 2017—Philippine total cargo throughput posted a 7.42% hike in volume in the first six months of the year due to a favorable business climate.

Almost all aspects of cargo operations, except for loose export cargoes, posted positive performances for the period January to June 2017.

Mindanao ports likewise posted positive performance for the period in review despite experiencing some security issues the past couple of months.

PPA ready for global challenges as it marks 43rd Founding Anniversary

PPA takes over management and operations of Malalag port in Davao del Sur

JULY 5, 2017, MANILA—To further cement Davao’s claim as the third major international gateway in the country, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has taken over management and operations at its Malalag’s port to upgrade the terminal to international standards.

The PPA and the local government of Malalag already formalized the transfer through a Memorandum of Agreement signed by town mayor, Peter Paul T. Valentin and PPA General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago, end of last month.
