PPA upgrades passenger facilities and services to ensure safer and more convenient travel for 1.93 million expected passengers this Undas.
29 OCTOBER 2026 — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is ready to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic this Undas season, with upgraded passenger terminal facilities, free shuttle bus services, and measures in place to support safe, convenient, and orderly port operations nationwide.
Several ports are equipped with new or improved passenger terminal facilities designed to provide travelers with more comfortable spaces while waiting for their scheduled trips. These include the Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at the Port of Lucena, the improved port facilities at Banago Port in Bacolod City, the Port Operations Building at the Port of Benoni in Camiguin, and the upgraded Port Operations Building at Balingoan Port in Misamis Oriental.
At the Port of Lucena, the passenger terminal features a spacious waiting area that can accommodate nearly 1000 passengers, providing travelers with ample space while awaiting their scheduled departures. The facility is also equipped with 144 solar cells, supporting the use of renewable energy in port operations.
Meanwhile, the improvements at Banago Port include a dedicated port operations building to support port activities and passenger services. At the Port of Benoni in Camiguin, the Port Operations Building provides seating for 207 passengers, offering passengers designated space.
At Balingoan Port, the upgraded Port Operations Building offers passenger lounges, childcare and play areas, food concession spaces, and prayer rooms. The facility is designed to address the varying needs of travelers, including families with children, while providing more convenient spaces for passengers before boarding.
These improvements reflect PPA’s continuing efforts to enhance passenger facilities and provide a more comfortable and organized travel experience, particularly during peak travel periods such as Undas. By improving waiting areas and providing amenities that cater to different passenger needs, the Authority aims to help ease the movement of travelers through busy ports.
PPA is also providing free shuttle bus services at selected ports, helping passengers move more conveniently within port areas. These services complement the Authority’s ongoing preparations to manage passenger movement and maintain efficient port operations throughout the holiday period.
PPA is likewise implementing its Online Reservation Assistance System (ORAS) at the ports of Lucena, Balanacan, Calapan, and Batangas to help passengers plan their trips ahead of time. Through the online platform, travelers can check vessel schedules, select their preferred departure time, and reserve their intended trip using a simple three-step process: SCAN, CHOOSE, RESERVE.
PPA expects approximately 1.93 million passengers to travel through Philippine ports from October 27 to November 5, 2026, representing a 1.55-percent increase from the approximately 1.90 million passengers recorded during the same period last year. The agency continues to coordinate with its Port Management Offices, shipping lines, and other concerned agencies to ensure that passenger facilities and services are ready for the holiday rush.
Passengers are encouraged to plan their trips ahead of time, monitor official port advisories, and coordinate with their respective shipping lines for the latest vessel schedules to help ensure a smoother and more convenient journey this Undas.
