17 OCTOBER 2019, MANILA--Some 280,000 sea-going passengers availed of the Terminal Fee waiver for Senior Citizens, PWDs, students and selected uniformed personnel being implemented by the PPA since 15 July 2019.
This is equivalent to an estimated P5 million in terminal fees for the period 15 July 2019 to 31 August 2019.
For the first 45 days of the free terminal fee initiative, 95,513 students, 156,972 senior citizens, 9,683 PWDs and 16,405 uniformed personnel have benefited from the program.
PPA General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said that the terminal fee waiver project is an additional contribution of the agency in continuously providing “serbisyo at malasakit” to those who are in-need of government’s assistance.
Implemented through PPA Administrative Order No. 04-2019, students, senior citizens, PWDs and uniformed personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) shall be granted with free terminal fee in all PPA-owned passenger terminals upon presentation of valid IDs.
Likewise, PPA announced that starting 18 October 2019 Medal of Valor awardees and their first degree kin shall also receive the same benefit per PPA Administrative Order No.08-2019.###
