New Largest Passenger Terminal Building in the country, set to open this 2023

10 JANUARY 2023, CALAPAN, MINDORO —Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Santiago conducts inspection at the largest passenger terminal building (PTB) in the Philippines located at Port of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro which is scheduled to open on March 2023.

According to Engr. Elvis Medalla, Port Manager of PPA Port Management Office Mindoro, passengers’ welfare was among the primary consideration in the construction of the new and modern PTB. "This is really for the passengers of Calapan Port, it is apt that we give the pubic quality service and world class facilities that they can use while waiting for their trips," said Medalla.

Among the facilities of the newest PTB include a prayer room, breastfeeding station, children's playroom, clinic, and a modern elevator and escalator that passengers can use. The project costs Php 353 million with a target completion date of February 18, 2023 or 720 calendar days.

According to GM Santiago, the terminal will be of great help to passengers as it can accommodate a total of 3,500 passengers at any given time.

"I am glad that during our inspection, we saw the progress of the construction of the new and largest PTB in the entire Philippines at the Port of Calapan in Oriental Mindoro," said Santiago.

"The assessment of Port Management Office of Mindoro reveals that the completion rate of our PTB is 17% ahead of its target schedule and we are set to inaugurate it in March this year," added Santiago.

The new PTB is expected to provide great convenience to passengers in Calapan Port  by making their trip more pleasant away from long queues experienced in the past holiday season. ###
