PPA: "HIGHLY ENCOURAGED" ANG PAGSUSOOT NG FACEMASK SA MGA PANTALAN NGAYONG HOLIDAY SEASON

7 DISYEMBRE 2023, MAYNILA — Hinikayat ng Philippine Ports Authority ang mga pasahero ng pantalan na mag-suot ng facemask ngayong holiday season bunsod ng naitatalang pagtaas ng kaso ng influenza sa bansa. 

Ayon kay PPA General Manager Jay Santiago, bagamat hindi naman required ang pagsosoot ng facemask, mas makabubuti pa rin aniyang sundin ang mga basic health protocols gaya ng pagsiguro na mayroong tamang bakuna, paggamit ng alcohol, at ang palagiang paghuhugas ng kamay upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng virus. 

PORTS ON RED ALERT AFTER MARAWI BLAST

06 DECEMBER 2023, MANILA — The Philippine Ports Authoirty (PPA) is on 'red alert' status as part of the security measures following the bomb attack in Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City on Sunday that left four people dead and a couple of others injured. 

PPA General Manager Jay Santiago said all port employees and security personnel have been reminded through a memorandum to always remain vigilant and proactive in ensuring the safety and security of  the people inside and outside of ports. 

PPA TO END 2023 WITH A BANG, CHURNS OUT RECORD-BREAKING NUMBERS

04 DECEMBER 2023, MANILA — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is ending 2023 with a bang as major reforms paired with good fiscal management and governance continue to churn out record breaking numbers for the second straight year.

For one, the revenue booked by PPA from January to October this year jumped by 30.2 percent hitting an all-time high of P21.06 billion, already breaking the previous record high of 20.53 billion recorded last year. 

FOREIGN CONTAINER CARGO VOLUME UP AS GLOBAL TRADE GAINS TRACTION

25 NOVEMBER 2023, MANILA — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) reported a slight increase in foreign containers handled from January to October this year as global trade continues to gain traction translating to higher exports and imports.

Latest data released by the PPA showed a 1.34 percent increase in foreign containers handled to 4.08 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the 10-month period versus last year’s 4.03 million TEUs.

PH JOINS ASEAN ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE IN BALI

16 NOVEMBER 2023 —The Philippines, through the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is currently participating actively in the 47th Meeting of the ASEAN Ports Association (APA) this November 13-17, 2023 in Bali, Indonesia together with other member nations.

The 9-member countries of APA namely Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines presented their respective papers that will serve as the springboard for future development and cooperation among member countries.

PPA expects over 1.4M passengers at ports for Undas and long weekend 2023

25 OCTOBER 2023, MANILA —In a bid to ensure full workforce complement and maintain strict security protocol at ports under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has issued a "No Leave Policy" effective today, October 25 to November 8, 2023, in preparation for coming influx of passenger due to Undas and Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

In a memorandum issued on October 23, 2023, PPA General Manager Jay Santiago instructed all PPA personnel to refrain from availing leave of absence during this time when port services are mostly needed.

PPA ROLLS OUT PLAN FOR PH PORTS AS THE NEXT ASIA's CRUISE TOURISM HUB

18 OCTOBER 2023, MANILA — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) joins the country in celebrating the Philippines’ feat as the "Best Cruise Destination in Asia 2023" from the latest World Cruise awards.

“Kami po ay nagagalak at proud na finally nakakuha ang Pilipinas ng Best Cruise Destination Award na nagpapakita po ng pagkilala sa mga hakbang ng pamahalaan sa pangunguna po ng Department of Tourism (DOT) katulong po ang iba’t-ibang ahensya ng gobyerno gaya po ng Philippine Ports Authority,” PPA General Manager Jay Santiago said.

PPA: FIRST K9 ACADEMY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA, NEARING COMPLETION

12 OCTOBER 2023, MANILA — The construction of the joint K9 Academy of the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is nearing completion as inspected by PPA General Manager Jay Santiago today October 12, 2023 in Brngy Dolores, Sitio Bana, Mabalacat, Pampanga. 

PPA GM Santiago, inspected the ongoing construction of the K9 Academy which will be the first in Southeast Asia and is set to cater at least 128 K9 dogs and 100 handlers once completed.

10 OKTUBRE 2023, MAYNILA — Pinangunahan ni Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago ang muling pagdaraos ng International Conference ng Coastal and Port Engineering in Developing Countries (COPEDEC) na inorganisa ng Permanent International Association of Navigation Congresses (PIANC) kaninang umaga, 10 ng Oktubre 2023, sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) sa Pasay City.
